Yes. Despite the opinion of almost all Kuwaitis, Kuwait does have awesome gems to explore especially to those interested to see new countries, cultures and have good food.

Tourism is a diverse industry that caters to various interests and preferences, resulting in different types of tourism experiences around the world. One of the forms is historic tourism, where travelers seek to explore the rich historical heritage of a destination. They visit historical landmarks, ancient ruins, and museums to delve into the fascinating narratives of the past. Cultural tourism, on the other hand, revolves around experiencing the customs, traditions, and artistic expressions of a particular culture. Travelers immerse themselves in local festivals, visit art galleries, witness traditional performances, and interact with locals to gain a deeper understanding of the cultural fabric of a place. Another popular form is food tourism, which celebrates culinary delights and local gastronomy. Travelers embark on culinary journeys to savor authentic dishes, explore local markets, participate in cooking classes and indulge in food.

The main difficulty you’d face, is trying to find access to bookings and information directly online. You must know someone or an agency that would assist you in making your plans happen. Things change in Kuwait continuously, new places, pop-ups, trends and so on. You won’t be able to know/find them without knowing a local or asking someone that lives in Kuwait.

When to visit Kuwait?

The best time to visit Kuwait is winter time. I would avoid summer as the heat might ruin the experience for you. Usually, weather starts cooling down in November and up to May.

Some of the things you could see in Kuwait for the day (highly recommend you have a guide to give you depth to what you’re seeing!):

Start your day by grabbing breakfast either at you own hotel, or in one of Kuwait’s breakfast/brunch places. There are plenty, so it depends on what you prefer. For something western/modern I recommend Madison and Heige. For something traditional and Kuwaiti, an option would be Amiti Noura (good for lunch too!). After breakfast, head to visit the iconic Kuwait Towers, which offer panoramic views of the city. You could get a ticket and go inside and upstairs for a view of the city! If the weather permits, enjoy a walk from the towers all the way on the beach side. Kuwait is very famous with its speciality cafes, grab a coffee on the go from one of the plenty available!

After the towers, head to the Souq Mubarakiya, a traditional market that offers a glimpse into Kuwait’s rich heritage. Here, you can browse through various shops selling spices, textiles, handicrafts, and traditional Kuwaiti goods. You can also enjoy a delicious traditional Kuwaiti lunch at one of the local restaurants in the Souq Mubarakiya area. Don’t miss trying dishes like machboos (a spiced rice dish with meat) or grilled fish.

After lunch, visit the Tareq Rajab Museum of Islamic Calligraphy and House of Mirrors. The museum houses an impressive collection of Islamic calligraphy, while the House of Mirrors showcases intricate mirror mosaics.

Spend your evening at the Kuwait Corniche, a beautiful waterfront promenade. Take a leisurely stroll along the Corniche, enjoy the views of the Arabian Gulf, and catch a beautiful sunset!

For dinner, I recommend treating your self in Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad Cultural Centre (JACC) to one of the nice restaurants there such as White Robata (Sushi, must book in advance)!
