Minorca or Menorca is one of the Balearic Islands located in the Mediterranean Sea belonging to Spain. Its name derives from its size, contrasting it with nearby Majorca. Menorca has a population of approximately 94,383.
How to get there?
- Menorca’s Airport is the airport you’d wanna arrive to.
- By plane from Madrid
- By boat from Mallorca (1 hour 30 minutes, I’ve tried Menorca Lines)
- By sea is about eight hours from Barcelona
Season to visit?
Menorca’s beaches get crowded in peak season (July and August) – Many of the island’s hotels and restaurants close for the winter months.
Where to stay?
To be very honest; the service in both hotels I tried in Menorca isnt the best. The hotels are great, the service isn’t reflective of the price. I do recommend to stay in those hotels, but keep in mind to lower your expectations for service.
– Melia Cala Galdana (This is where I stayed in 2022. It’s a great resorts but old rooms kind of. It is though the only maybe hotel that has a beach front (Cala Galdana) and which where the port is a walking distance in case you’d like to take a boat out.
– Villa Le Blanc Gran Melia (This is where I stayed in June 2024). I do love this hotel and its spaces alot more than Melia Cala Galdana. If I could distinct the two; I feel the first one is more suitable for families/resort style. Wheres Villa Blanc is more for young adults, friends, couples and so on. Again, poor service for a leading hotel of the world, beautiful hotel nonetheless.
– Faustino Gran Relais & Chateaux
Other options I know of:
– Barcelo Hamilton Hotel (5 minutes walk from Mahor Harbor where all the restaurants and coffee shops are)
– Paradise Club & Spa ApartHotel
– Insotel Punta Prima Resort

- Isabella Beach Club (Beautiful sunset dinner spot, must book ahead!)
- Bambu Menorca (Terrace with a Seaview with a nice Zen Garden)
- Cova D.en Xerox Menorca (Sunset spot/live music bar – no food)
- Ivette Beach Club (beautiful for sunset dinner) or lunch.

- Explore Menorca on horseback
- Watch sunset in Cova d’en Xoroi at Cala’n Porter, which is a spectacular bar with outside terraces is set within natural caves 25 metres above sea level
Highlights.
– You can’t reach most of the beaches by car, kayak or a small speed boat only. Highly advise to rent a car!
– You won’t find anything in the beach area, no coffee shops, no bars, no restaurants so you have to bring your own stuff with you; Towels beverages etc.
