Mykonos Beaches
The beaches in Mykonos are absolutely breath-taking. Here’s a list of beaches I visited and loved, and i’ve also added some good recommended beaches by others that you might wanna check out!
Paranga Beach:
One of the smallest beaches, a combination of fine sand and huge rocks with blue water. It can be reached by bus or by a 15 minute walk from Platis Gialos. If you’re driving, then check out google maps for exact distance.
Elia beach:
Elia is in a distance of about 3 km away from Ano Mera. The largest of the southern beaches, it has good restaurants, hotels, bungalows. Again the right side of the beach is preferred by socialite Greek gays.
Personally, I was staying in a hotel in Elia, so this beach was super close. I had the chance to visit, it was quite, family friendly and nice.
Super Paradise Beach (Plintri):
Just as famous as its neighbouring Paradise. This beach is not my favorite, and I would not advise you to come here for a peaceful day. I feel this place is too commercial- music blares from huge loud speakers and the beach partying often continues all day long. Full nudity is permitted on the right side of the beach which is also gay friendly. It is reachable by local bus and small boat.
Kalo Livadi beach:
Kalo Livadi was the perfect place for those who look for a peaceful environment. NOT ANYMORE.
Kali Livadi has Nammos rival, Sol y Mar. Every local entrepreneur is trying to find his hot spot on that beach. I really liked the food at Solymar.
Korfos Beach:
Only two kilometres from town. The beach attracts mainly wind surfing enthusiasts, due to the frequency of good on-shore winds. Not suitable for swimming or tanning.
Ftelia Beach:
North of Mykonos, most suitable to windsurfers, since it is exposed to strong northern winds. There is a restaurant to serve the needs of those who visit and access to this beach can only be made by taxi or private vehicles.
Fokos beach:
Undeveloped northern beach, to reach only by private vehicle or taxi. You’ll feel isolation and calmness, away from the busy Mykonos Town.
Psarou Beach:
A fully organised beach, offers glamour and prestige. It’s the place to see and to be seen. Nammos the beach restaurant offers the same glamour and prestige as long as you are willing to pay the price. In high season you might have bribe your way to gain access to your spot on the beach.
Megali Ammos:
The closest beach to Chora, reachable by a 15 min walk, ideal for those who only have a few hours to spend.
Ornos Beach:
Only two kilometres from town, located on the south west. It is the perfect family beach with all amenities. Daily boat services to other beaches as well as excursions to the island of Delos are available from this bay which also provides a good anchorage for yachts.
Agia Anna – Kalafatis beaches:
Sandy beaches next to one another, on the eastern part. Agia Anna is small with only a few umbrellas, while the beautiful Kalafatis bay is favoured by wind surfers who enjoy a good offshore breeze. Organized, offering water sports and a diving school.
