24 hours in Addis Ababa | Ethiopia
Our flight was cancelled and moved to the next day so we had a long transit in Addis Ababa on the way back to Kuwait, so we decided to explore the city!
Hotel of our choice for this transit was: Marriott Executive Apartments (Loved the one bedroom apartment!)
Our friends were in Addis Ababa 2 weeks before, and they recommended:
– Hilton Hotel
– Sheraton Hotel
INFO:
Addis Ababa is Ethiopia’s capital and Africa’s political capital.
Currency used here is: Ethiopian Birr (ETB), exchange can be made at the airport from either Dollars or Euros.
Things to do:
- Visit the National Museum and the Ethnological Museum.
- Selassie (Holy Trinity) Cathedral- Emperor Haile Selassie I built it in 1941 after the restoration of independence from the Fascist Italian occupation. Many beautiful paintings, morals and stained-glass windows decorated the interior.
- Checkout Mt. Entoto and the Entoto Mariyam church
- Mercato
At the end, I realized I wanted to spend more time in Ethiopia! There’s so much to explore in this place. I would recommend you to plan it with a tour guide or a local operator to see as much as possible safely around the country.
